I have a question about your post on Mscomm32 locking up. We are using Mscomm32 to simply send text to a Closed Circuit TV. We are not using any handshaking and simply want to sent the text and move on. if the text is received great but if not no big deal. we do not want to lock our point of sale terminal. we have used this technique for years but started running into issues recently where the app would still lockup for exactly 60 seconds. If the problem we are seeing is what you posted on the MsComm32 will your Comm32 solve this issue? Basically, we simply want to send text to the port and move on without waiting for any response.

Sounds similar to my problem - If flow control is not enabled then mscomm32 sometimes behaves as if flow control was enabled allowing data to build up in the transmit buffer eventually causing the application to hang. The length of time depemds on the number of characters in the buffer.

In our experience Comm32.ocx and Comm64.Dll do not suffer the same problem.

Thanks for the response...hopefully we see the same result although my testing this morning shows text being dropped. Just starting to look into this now.
